BUSINESS HISTORY

Performance Center Auto Repair was founded by Wayne D. Smozanek in Jupiter, FL in 1988 with the idea of providing quality auto repairs in order to establish a strong customer base and long term customer relations. Today, Performance Center is still independently owned and operated by Wayne and his family, Wendy and Will Race.

With more than 25 years experience as an automotive mechanic, working on domestic and foreign vehicles, a racer, avid street and hot rodder and motorcycle builder, Wayne brings a unique competence to his shop.

At Performance Center Auto Repair, street rods, hot rods, race cars, monster trucks and motorcycles are our passion.

Our goal is to provide you with the best craftsmanship in the business. We can take your project to any level, from mild to wild, partially complete to a turnkey restoration that is customized to fit your specific needs. All fabrication is in-house and all mechanical work is performed by skilled trained professionals.

Many of our own personal vehicles have been featured in magazines, television and video. We have been featued in Street Rodder and Hot Rod Magazine, ESPN, SPEED Channel, and numerous monster truck and race videos.

RACING

Monster Trucks

In 1989, we purchased Night Life, which we campaigned until 1990. In 1990, we built our own new truck, Tropical Thunder, and raced competitively around the country until 1993. Wayne then drove Pouncer for Allen Pezo, with Predator Racing, and Cowboy for Scott Hartsock with Gunslinger Racing.

Race Cars

1941 Willys

Our Willys has a 540 ci blown, injected, alcohol motor with a turbo 400 transmission and 9 inch Ford rear. It has run a 7.62 ET at 180+ MPH. Purchased in 1994, we have raced the Willys successfully and competitively since that time. The Willys won the 1997 Orlando World Street Nationals - OUTLAW DOT class. We have raced a car at this event every year since 1995. We also raced the Willys at NIMCA and Super Chevy events all over the country. In addition, the Willys has raced in PINKS ALL OUT twice, in 2007 and 2010. The Willys was featured and picked as one of the Top 50 hot rods of all time in Hot Rod Magazine.
